Mission to Kenya 2010

Africa Medical Mission in KenyaIn July 2010 a mission team from Presbytery of the Miami Valley traveled to Kenya, East Africa, to begin construction of a maternity ward in the village of Ng’undu, east of Nairobi.  The maternity ward is an addition to the Nu’undu Medical Clinic that was established two years ago with funding from our Presbytery.  The 12-member mission team represented four churches: Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Troy First Presbyterian Church, Bellefontaine First United Presbyterian Church, and Grace Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Cincinnati.

Africa Medical Mission to KenyaDuring their visit to Kenya the team also visited the Tumaini AIDS orphanage, conducted a medical outreach and visited the site of a well-drilling project in the drought-stricken region of Southern Kenya.

In April the well-drilling crew struck water at a depth of 370 feet.  Since then, the well has provided fresh, clean drinking water to the Masai people and more than 350 cattle.  All of these projects have been undertaken in partnership with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa and with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Nairobi.

For more information about the mission in Kenya, contact Pastor Peter Larson at Lebanon Presbyterian Church (email).
