In Memoriam
Suzan E. Zink
September 15, 1957 - February 23, 2006

The Rev. Suzan E. Zink

The Rev. Suzan E. Zink, 48, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006, after a courageous struggle with cancer.  A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 26, 2006, at the Blue Ash Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, the Rev. Alice Peterson officiating.

A graduate of Princeton Seminary, Suzan had served churches as Minister of Word and Sacrament in New Jersey, New York and in Miami Presbytery—Trinity in Fairfield, Morning Sun and Slifers in Farmersville. She was known for her playful spirit, her love of the deep truths in the story--our own and that of the Gospel--and her compassionate heart in caring for those around her.  Suzan also served Miami Presbytery as a member of the Committee on Ministry, working with several churches in guiding them toward the call of a new pastor.

Her parents, John and Laura Zink preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Don and Jack, and their families; many cousins, aunts and uncles, and devoted friends. The people in Miami Presbytery express our deep condolences to her family and friends; and our great appreciation to the Rev. Kathy Horne who, on our behalf, walked faithfully with Suzan through her illness.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to her brothers: Don Zink, 1755 Locust St, N.E., St. Petersburg, FL  33704 and Jack Zink, 10650 Robindale Dr., Cincinnati, OH  45241. Contributions in her memory may be sent to: The Wellness Community (an organization that serves cancer patients with support, education, and hope), 4918 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.

". . .those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31

above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." -Colossians 3:12, 14

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Memorial Service for Suzan Zink
Delivered by Margaret Haney
 Retired Executive Presbyter, Miami Presbytery

O God of grace and love,
before whom generations rise and pass away,
we praise you for all your servants who, having lived this life in faith,
now live eternally with you.

Especially we thank you for your servant Suzan
whose baptism is now complete in death.
We praise you for the gift of her life,
for all in her that was good and kind and faithful,
for the grace you gave her,
that kindled in her the love of your dear name
and enabled her to serve you faithfully.

We thank you for her playful spirit, for her sense of joy in so many things,
for her perseverance in spite of such great odds,
for her love of life and her faithfulness to you--as a pastor in service to the Church,
as a loving sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend.

We thank you that for her, death is past and her pain has ended,
and that she has now entered into the joy you have prepared for her
though Jesus Christ our Lord. It is in His holy name that we pray. Amen.
