Steps Toward Peace in Israel and Palestine
Three from Miami Presbytery make peacemaking journey

The Miami Presbytery commissioned three people to join with 92 Presbyterians from 31 other presbyteries for a peacemaking journey to Bethlehem April 25-May 5, 2006, sponsored by  Steps Toward Peace in Israel and Palestine , Presbyterian Church (USA).

Elder Jim Clay (Westminster Presbyterian Church Dayton), Rev. Ed DeLair (Miami Presbytery Associate Executive Presbyter) and Rev. Rob Fulton (Pastor, Bellefontaine First United Presbyterian Church). attended a conference in which they learned about the current situation in Israel and Palestine. The three had opportunities to talk with Jewish leaders in Jerusalem. They also heard from both Palestinian and Israeli groups who are working for peace in the region.

Presbytery teams prepared for the conference by meeting together prior to their travel to Bethlehem, reading background material, and engaging in a prayer discipline.

Upon their return, the three conference participants made themselves available to speak about their experiences at churches around the presbytery.
