"The Living Last Supper"
Holy Week drama produced by Springfield churches

On Maundy Thursday, April 13, 2006 three Springfield Presbyterian churches (Oakland, Covenant, and Northminster) combined their talents to produce the "Living Last Supper" drama, which was part of their combined Holy Week services. The services concluded with communion, administered by Jesus, played by The Rev. Ron Smith, Interim Pastor of Covenant.

This was the third, biennial production of the drama performed on the stage in the Oakland sanctuary.

“The Living Last Supper” consists of each disciple in turn, pondering Jesus’ words with a lengthy soliloquy, reviewing his life with and relationship to Jesus, leaping off of Jesus' disturbing words, "One of you will betray me." Each disciple's piece ends with the words, "Lord, is it I?"

The service also had a combined choir of our 40 voices, and intermittent cello solos between the soliloquies.
