Six people from Miami Presbytery attended the PC(USA) National 2006 Multicultural Conference in Orlando, Florida in May.

Attending were Elder Marvella Lambright, Elder Jose Vidal, Melanie Monzon, Edgar Monzon, Emerson Morales (a missionary from Guatemala), and Miami Presbytery Hispanic Ministries Coordinator Rev. Jayne L. Ruiz.

The title of this year’s conference was Many People-One Family. As the brochure for the conference stated, “each year participants represent many different traditions, ethnicities, and cultures. Within our diversity, we are held in unity by our common faith in Jesus Christ, as Savior and Lord.”

The six participants expressed gratitude to the Synod, Hispanic Caucus, the National Church, and the Social Justice Committee of presbytery for the scholarship assistance and to Hispanic Ministries for its hard work of searching and applying for these funds.  A special thanks also goes to Marvella Lambright for driving her car to Orlando so that all could attend.
